Procedure to Access Information

As a public body, the City of La Malbaie is subject to the provisions of the Act respecting access to documents held by public bodies and the protection of personal information. Consequently, the City of La Malbaie must allow access to the documents it holds subject to the exceptions provided for in the Act.

Documents Covered

Documents held by the City that are not public are covered by the Act. Documents of a public nature are among others; the minutes, resolutions and by-laws of the city, the documents to which these documents refer and the roles and registers of the city.

Therefore, to access any other document, it is required to make an access to information request.

Procedure for Accessing Documents

Any request for access to the documents of the City of La Malbaie must be addressed to the person responsible for access to documents.

To be admissible, the request must be precise enough to identify it. The person responsible for access to documents has a duty to assist in the formulation of the request and can give any explanation regarding the application of the Act.

We make available to persons wishing to send an access request a form whose use is optional. (See below the PDF document titled "Access Form".) The information you submit in this document will be treated as confidential.

As soon as the written request is received, you will receive an acknowledgment of receipt specifying the deadlines to respond to your request and the costs, if any.

Costs

Accessible documents can be consulted free of charge at Hotel de Ville de La Malbaie during office hours.

To obtain a copy, fees not exceeding the cost of transcription, reproduction or transmission will be required and will be mentioned in the acknowledgment of receipt if applicable.

The amount and terms of payment are prescribed by government regulation. In this regard, you can consult the Regulation respecting fees for the transcription, reproduction and transmission of documents and nominative information.
