EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS
Out of concern for the safety of its population, the City of La Malbaie has adopted an emergency response plan in the event of a disaster. The plan, which is constantly updated, provides a better way of coordinating the various responses to a major disaster.

The plan is an effective method for reducing risks and thereby preserving the lives and protecting the property of citizens when a disaster occurs. It is structured around the involvement of two entities: the Municipal Council and the Organisation municipale de sécurité civile whose members include city employees and various partners of the municipality.

Along with the above organization, the City of La Malbaie is also a member of the task force under the Comité de mesures d’urgence régional (COMUR) which is made up of all the stakeholders in the Charlevoix-Est Regional County Municipality. The COMUR is a coordination committee (table de concertation) that provides its member municipalities with the means to better adapt their prevention and planning measures. It also makes it possible for them to better coordinate the efforts of various organizations that could be called upon during a disaster.
